Art Studio

The studio's seven double-paned windows provide plenty of natural light and can be opened to allow for better air circulation. The restored solid wood door also features a large window with a charming cross-hatch pattern.

A 32 sq ft. bathroom features a shower and flushing toilet, and a small sink is located near the door to the bathroom. The shower and sink are connected to a 7 gallon water heater—enough for a short shower!

The framing consists of 2x4 studs every 16 inches on center and ¾ inch plywood secured with deck screws. Hurricane strapping was used on all joints to further secure the frame. The floor, ceiling, and walls are insulated with fiberglass insulation. The exterior measures 18W x 8.5L x 13.4H feet, and no permit is required for towing.

The shell of this tiny house was built in 2016 in Touchet, Washington using both new and reclaimed materials. It was then towed 17 miles to my backyard in Walla Walla, where the interior and exterior were finished. Since then it has been used as an art studio.
A 50 amp electrical sub panel was professionally installed and passed inspection. Several outlets are located throughout the house and could easily accommodate a mini-fridge and/or hot plate. The house includes a portable electric heater and a window air-conditioning unit.
